This was sent to me by a friend a while back.. and the statistics are really sobering! Makes me grateful for the bounty in my life which compared to the billionares in our world, may not be much, but it is for me!

If you have food in your fridge, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep you are richer than 75% of the world.
If you have money in the bank, your wallet, and some spare change you are among the top 8% of the world’s wealthy.
If you woke up this morning with more health than illness you are more blessed than the million people who will not survive this week.
If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the agony of imprisonment or torture, or the horrible pangs of starvation vou are luckier than 500 million people alive and suffering.
If you can read this message you are more fortunate than 3 billion people in the world who cannot read it at all.
Great post… 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
I’ve seen this before; it’s frightening, isn’t it?
I’ve re-tweeted it because it should be shared.
Tilly, when I saw this earlier this year,it really shocked me,all of it, especially the part of more than 3 billion people in the world not being able to read. We have a world population of a little over 6 billion and half can’t read. Thanks for the re-tweet!
Absolutely wonderful post ! I’m going to print it out and post it on our refrigerator, where we can all be reminded of these sobering facts, and so we can remind ourselves, frequently, how blessed we are. (I don’t know why I’m so blessed, but obviously all I have to do is look around to know that I am.)
Thank you ♥
You are welcome. 🙂 I sometimes get little tears in my eyes from a sense of gratitude for my life nowadays, and at other times, I forget how blessed I am, so yes these numbers are a good reminder of where we are. Just being able to take long showers and drink cool water is a blessing!
