“Learn to get in touch with the silence within yourself, and know that everything in life has purpose. There are no mistakes, no coincidences, all events are blessings given to us to learn from.” Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

As a few of my WordPress followers know I have a Facebook fan page “Love Is The Answer” where I post daily quotes that are uplifting or that makes one stop and reconsider how we perceive life.  I breathe and live what I write about spirituality. Some one shared the above quote on Facebook, and it was in perfect timing for a tremendous challenge I experienced four days ago.

I was with my life partner Phil in the van on our way to drop off orders from our customers at the post office, and before I knew it, my ears were ringing, and most of my hearing suddenly left me. I was plunged into a world where I saw movement, people talking, children laughing, cars driving past us but all without a sound. It was to me a distressing reality.

Your inspirational writer Marie had two days where there were moments of inconsolable crying and fear.  And I tell you, I am strong, but not this time.  I had been working with a great science program to improve my hearing from Posit Science which I discovered when Nancy  http://nrhatch.wordpress.com/ shared information about a book “The Brain That Changes Itself” that writes of mind boggling healing taking place in patients by rewiring the brain through mental exercises. In the book, they mentioned a software program to improve hearing, so I purchased it early this year.   I saw incredible improvements to then suddenly experience this reversal. It caught me by surprise, as my physical health is a good one.

However, after two days of sadness and fear, and not talking much about it,  Phil and I had a profound spiritual conversation (I lip read), and I regained my inner stillness and decided to move on. I went out by myself the next day and did routine tasks to have normalcy back in my life. On the day I went out,  I noticed that many people were drawn to me and smiling at me. Children would wave at me as well as the elderly. When I got home, I realized that this pleasant connection with strangers made my venture out easier. In the seven years, I have lived in Oregon; I had not experienced this Southern-like charm.

By being centered, I can then do what I need to do. Seeing a doctor is not worthwhile as I experienced the same drop 24 years ago, but since I had better hearing then, I did not experience total deafness. There is nothing the medical establishment can do. By being centered, I give my mind and body the possibility of healing.

And it has started to pay off…. I used healing energy techniques, purchased Homeopathic remedies for tinnitus (ringing in the ear) and Bach Rescue Remedy for trauma. Yesterday after taking a nap, I woke up with some hearing back! The damage this time is not permanent.  Now I can hear my voice, Phil’s and a few sounds we take for granted. I am not out of the woods yet as I still hear less than last week, but at least I am not in the Twilight Zone where the world suddenly has lost sound.

The lesson I am learning from this is I need to make further spring cleaning type of changes.  Life is a constant letting go, not only of physical things, relationships and so on, but a letting go of internal dynamics that no longer work for our well-being and spiritual evolution. I am also reminded to never lose hope that out of this challenge something good will result.

I am blessed that I do experience a peaceful and loving life, and have made many, many changes in the past few years but the work is not done yet, and I am up to the task.

Change is always taking place in our lives; our bodies are constantly changing, such as having a new liver every 6 weeks, (amazing! isn’t it?) but when a dramatic change takes place such as the loss of a job or a loved one, often the way is being paved for a different you.  Life is all about experiences for our growth, many of which we don’t really have control over. We can kick or scream, but resistance  pulls us deeper into unconsciousness; we miss the opportunity of transcending our challenges and aligning ourselves with the  perfect movement of life.

It is in getting out of the way that a Higher Intelligence can more easily express through us and direct our path.

***Post Note: This is an entry I wrote for a new WordPress blog I am creating. I purchased a domain so I have more flexibility. It’s not yet published, I am just adding content for now while I figure the technical aspect of the site with my mate’s help. 🙂 I will also keep blogging in “Love is the Answer.”

Life with Abundance and Depth

Butterfly Life Cycle by Laurie Williams - Caterpillar, chrysalis, adult butterfly all illustrated and placed on a photo of some grape leaves.

I have watched Oprah’s Life Class almost every evening in her cable channel OWN, and my admiration for her is growing each day. She is an example of a being who lives with depth every day of her life, how beautiful and blessed is that?

One does not need money to live with depth and doing what we love. I watched a program in OWN on entrepreneurs and visionaries who are wealthy, and the word of advice was to do what you love for the joy and not for the money. These individuals continued doing what they loved while struggling financially, even one entrepreneur was sleeping in a park bench or car (can’t remember which) and opportunities opened up for them in the end. The passion put into what we love to do is what often triggers doors opening when we least expect it. And age does not matter, we can learn and grow at every stage of our lives.

I realize however, everyone defines abundance differently. Though I am not adverse to the idea of being rich, (Universe: I am open!) I  prefer to have a life of depth where I dance the dance of love, truth, and creativity and add to the balance and  inspiration of those around me and extend it to different connections around the world. This to me is also abundance.  With the availability of the Internet it makes it a realistic intention, and I am pleased to say this has already taken place at various times in my life where I have been the giver and recipient of  guidance and inspiration.

I see many of you in Facebook, Spiritual Networks and now WordPress which I joined during the summer of this year, uplifting and bringing laughter with your sharing and writing, so thank you all for being in my reality, you know who you are. 🙂

Into Greater Wholeness

“Every human being must go through the process of being wounded in order to expand one’s consciousness into greater wholeness.” — Andrew Schneider

As I write this entry tonight, I am listening to soothing music from the play list of a member of a spiritual social network site I joined this summer.  I always enjoy connecting to what is beautiful and uplifting, so I am thankful for this healer’s sharing.

When I lost more hearing three days after my 33rd birthday (which was many years ago), I lost the ability to hear certain musical tones; the musical world became flatter for me, but I am grateful I hear instrumental music well enough to enjoy it.

This hearing challenge is strange, it changes at times to the point where I can hear my soulmate’s speech perfectly,  the sounds of the wind and the song of birds, which have brought me to tears and that of my mate’s, but then I revert to my partial world of silence where the caress of the wind is felt but not heard.

During the moments when my hearing improves, is when I have had a spiritual clarity or an ‘aha’ moment that releases suppressed internal energy – such as fears or the emotional remnants from the ups and downs that we all experience in this world of duality. Most of the time, no big drama goes on when this release comes about, perhaps a few tears are shed and a deep sense of gratitude follows.

These shifts have opened up a new way of  how I look at the  world that we think is ‘real’. I am finding  that reality is very fluid, that what we experience in the body and in our general life experiences is what we hold in mind, so the possibilities of creating potentials in our lives are limitless, we are after all God in expression.
