I am thankful  for another day of physical life and the chance to grow and to be love

for self and  others….

and to celebrate life whether I am alone or in the company of loved ones or friends…

I am thankful for my loved ones, my friends, the strangers who crossed my path…

I am thankful for the sage ones and the homeless man

for they are my teachers in love…

I am thankful for my love of writing and that of others as we enrich one another through our diversity and the gift of the written word…

Happy Thanksgiving! We can always find something to be thankful for no matter what we are experiencing in the moment.

And we do not need a holiday to be thankful, every day is sacred.  Wishing my friends who celebrate Thanksgiving and those who do not, a day filled with love and gratitude.

 If I were told that there is not a real purpose to life, I would say, we are here to somehow add to the love and balance of the world. All of nature is solitary, yet interconnected; we weave a web that affects one another in perfect symmetry, even if our mind may tell us otherwise. If I but touch another person’s life through my actions or words, or add to the collective consciousness by my evolution, I have fulfilled my purpose, whether I am aware of it or not.

Mother Theresa’s words resonate with me. I realized at one point in my life that no matter what is going on with the world or if we encounter human beings in the journey of our life who may try to suppress the inner spark that we have because of their own internal struggles, the best is to move on and keep on shining the beauty of our spirit.  I found it always comes back in the form of grace.

My partner Phil and I love being together, and since we run a business from home, except when he has contracts to remodel homes for his other business, or I travel back to the East Coast alone to visit family and friends, we generally are together 7 days a week.

Yet, we are independent and like our space. Too much togetherness every second of the day can be draining, so we each have our own offices equipped with a computer, copier and a DVD player. We also have our separate bathrooms, as I am typical of the female species, I love to spend hours in the bathroom pampering and relaxing with essential oils. Just knowing we are nearby is comforting and relaxing.

We find that in relationships, space is important. Even giving one another the space to be who we are, to reject or accept new ideas about the various subjects we may discuss (spirituality is our main focus) allows for each one to express the uniqueness of our being.

This space actually makes us feel closer, as the sense of freedom is precious to us, but we ensure we have our quality time.  We did not experience the relationship we have with our previous ones; for both of us they were unhealthy unions that taught us the importance of not giving our power away. It took inner work, establishing boundaries and self love to get to the point where we were both able to enter a healthy relationship when we met.

It’s a blessed world when a couple can join without suppressing the other due to fears and insecurities and the pressure of expectations and projections, but it takes a willingness to learn and grow from our life experiences. Having a healthy, nurturing, loving union is everyone’s birthright, so I always encourage friends and family to first work on healing, understanding and loving Self, and the rest will fall in place.

It took me a long time to get to a healthier place in terms of relationships, and did not meet my soulmate until I was already in my 40’s but it was worth the wait!

Gratitude Prayer – I thought, why not?

I am grateful for food and shelter,

 for my health and good mind.

 and the ones who were once in my life. 

I am grateful for the Presence of God/Spirit

 in all my affairs!

 I am grateful for a heart that feels

 warmth, love, and a deep appreciation

 for the blessings of life!

Healing Spirit

From my experience when we lighten up and let go of misunderstandings, we stop feeding the energy of anger, and it may bring about a shift or healing. If not, then it sets one free from walking around with the burden of a mind rehashing the hurts, which in turn affects our well being. It allows us to enjoy the presence of the moment.

Of course, it involves inner work, understanding the human ego, and knowing we all respond from our projections and filters of what we carry within in our mind and heart. We all are doing the best with our level of consciousness. If one is let’s say “selfish” we tend to see others as selfish as well, or if one “celebrates the good in others”, we tend to think others are enjoying our good. Yet, no matter where we are in our evolution, our true nature is Love and love does wonders!

Kindness

Kindness is an act of grace and beauty; one that can lift a broken heart or restore hope in a person’s life. Often, people do not know what to say when confronted with a friend or family member who is experiencing loss or a very difficult challenge in their lives. Sometimes, words need not be said; extending kindness is the language of the soul, one that can be heard and felt at all levels of a person’s being.The Dalai Lama’s words “there is no need for temples, no need for complicated philosophies. My brain and my heart is my temples; my philosophy is kindness”are words that express a simple, yet profound path, where one lives in connection to God/Spirit, as kindness is an expression of love.

The next time, you meet someone in need and are at loss for words, extend kindness. If you are experiencing loss, be kind to yourself; allow yourself to grieve and nurture the beautiful soul that you are by meditating, exploring your connection to your divinity, caring for your body, and letting others help you.

Affirmation: ” I am receptive to giving and receiving kindness. Kindness opens hearts and allows grace to surround me.”

Love Embraces All

Animals and children are the innocent examples of unconditional love because they are pure, empty of ideas imparted by others. It is when we start getting older that we pick up the judgments, prejudices and fears of the adults in our lives.

 One aspect of Love is the ability to keep our heart open by releasing ourselves from all judgments, “I am right, you are wrong”, “how could you think this way?” “why are you spreading fear?” We all, are doing the best that we can with our level of awareness. It is in this diversity that gives us the opportunity of learning from one another and above all learning about ourselves. It is easy to be loving and kind when the way is smooth, but when tested, how do we react? Do we lash out to hurt? Or do we introspect and grow from the experience?

When we step down from the elevated platform of judgment, the tightness that judgment places in one’s heart and overall energy, simply leaves, and from this state of being, we can take action, be it to inspire another, extending healing or being an agent of change.

It takes a loving daily practice, a conscious intention of sincerely looking at self,  to let go of beliefs, patterns or attachments that creates separation from one another.

Love/God/Source embraces all, finds joy in all of its creations as we are all One and reflections of one another.
