“If you let go a little, you will have a little happiness. If you let go a lot, you will have a lot of happiness. And if you let go completely, you will be completely happy.”  Ajahn Chah

There is true liberation when we let go of anything that is suppressing our spirit and enjoyment of life.

I find that once I release a mental pattern or relationship to life that my reality changes without my trying very hard. As an example, when I fully realized that I deserved respect, friendship and love in an intimate relationship, the emotionally and verbally abusive ex and I went our separate ways, and without any drama.

As I was happily getting ready to spend the rest of my life on my own many years ago, I met the current man I share my life with two months later. He reflects everything that is beautiful, a true soulmate. He reflects my healthy state of mind when it comes to relationships. Yet, in the midst of happiness and a peaceful life, I have my inner demons that cause suffering. I am aware enough to know that these are simply thoughts, an illusion, but the ego insists on getting its way.

I am aware that I am not powerless. I simply need to stop feeding the demons until they disappear. Little by little they are being let go and little by little I am seeing several positive changes in myself. One being, I have less anxiety.

The healing work is not yet done, but I am willing and eager to continue on the path of spiritual growth and emotional wholeness.

Being true to oneself takes courage and is liberating. I was watching an Oprah show where she said that unless we are true to ourselves, we will never grow into the fullness of our being. How true. For years, I spent time in Corporate America working in a high-rise skyscraper which was beautiful at night when I would look out of the window, and see the lights of the surrounding buildings illuminating the sky, but my career was suppressing my soul; so, I left after 23 years into the unknown.  I finally set myself free to reclaim my soul.

I am sharing a few quotes that I found inspiring:

Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.–Carl Jung

I have had to risk losing popularity, risk losing people’s acceptance in order to do something that’s close to my heart and that I think is meaningful…At some point you have to divorce yourself from the things that other people want for you.–Jim Carrey

Any life, no matter how long and complex it may be, is made up of a single moment–the moment in which a man finds out, once and for all, who he is.–Jorge Luis Borges

Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive. —Howard Thurman

Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom.
Mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power.
If you realize that you have enough, you are truly rich. —Tao Te Ching

Life’s challenges are not supposed to paralyze you, they’re supposed to help you discover who you are. —Bernice Johnson Reagon

Use what talent you possess: The world would be very silent if no birds sang except those that sang best.–Henry Van Dyke

You are obligated to understand that you are unique in the world. There has never been anyone like you because, of there were, there would be no need for you to exist. You are an utterly new thing in creation. Your life goal is to realize this uniqueness.–Aaron Perlow (Itturay Torah)

Awakening to Who We Really Are

I have been on a spiritual search for most of my life; always seeking answers to the questions “who am I?” “why am I here?”, “why do certain things happen in our world?” “Is this reality all there is?” This seeking is not new, it’s as old as the world itself, bringing forth many philosophers and teachers of spiritual truth, each with their own answers.

I have come to realize that acquiring more methods, ideas and practices can serve as a compass in a nobler direction, but it does not bring me closer to the clarity of being totally aware of my true nature. It is ironically in letting go of ideas, perceptions, a shedding of what no longer works, that creates openings which brings me closer to the reveleation of Truth.

The Truth is simple, it is within, but we cannot see it through the man- made stories and ego filters, which prevent us from seeing we are One and from the same Source.

In letting go, we set ourselves free.

Perfection of the Universe

I used to not understand how the statement that everything happens for a reason, or that there is perfection in the universe, could be a valid statement. The world seemed chaotic and often cruel. How could a tsunami, earthquakes, fires, man’s inhumanity to man be perfect? I could see perfection in the things that would bring love, peace, joy, and beauty into the world.

I did not realize then, that if we pay very close attention to the events in our personal lives, no matter how challenging, it always if we are willing, lead to transformations in our lives. The pieces like a puzzle fit together to create the person you have become. They may be subtle, but the transformation could be looking at yourself and life with a deeper appreciation, and when these changes take place, our lives are bound to change.

Our human mind has difficulty understanding why the things that happen in our world happen and where the exact perfection is, such as in the death of a loved one, but our souls which is the truth of who we are, does understand. It understands your existence. It’s impossible not to understand at a deeper level, as we have the Infinite Intelligence within us who knows all and transcends death.

Intuition, stilling the mind, keeping one’s heart open, allows for a knowing of the perfection of the universe to start becoming breathtakingly clear.
